Our Educational Experiences

Our Educational Experiences are designed to support children’s learning within indoor and outdoor environments through imaginative, messy and risky play that incorporates music, art & STEM.

We maintain a wide range of fun, stimulating and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that reflect real-world and home settings, and encourage a sense of belonging and community amongst the children and their families.

Young gardener

Y Gardener

Through the Y Gardener experience, children learn how to care for a garden and grow their own plants, including foods they can use in the Early Years setting. They also gain knowledge about sustainability, different foods and their origins, food preparation, kitchen safety, healthy eating and how food keeps our bodies healthy.

Y Explorer

Y Explorers experience provides children with the opportunity to learn about the world around them through subjects like science, Nature/ Community walks, STEM, Bush Kinder, and sensory play. The experience encourages children to be curious, ask questions, form hypotheses and participate in research to discover answers.

Y Learning Environments

The Y Learning environments are places provided with play-based learning experiences. These spaces are design and hold activities based on each child’s interests and developmental stage to maximize their learning. When children learn through play, we see them thrive and develop their own sense of belonging and personality.

Y Wellbeing

At the Y, our highest priority is the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children. Y Wellbeing experience provides our children with activities such as yoga, wellbeing teddies, breathing exercises, relationship-building, zones of regulation framework and music tailored to different age groups. The experience focuses on designing practical wellbeing strategies to build resilience. The more positive emotions children experience through these activities, the more resilient they become.

Y Culture

The Y Culture experience promotes understanding, respect, and positive relationships among children from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the wider Australian community. It celebrates diversity and offers opportunities to appreciate the richness it brings to our understanding of the world.

Y Community and Connections

The Y Community and connections is all about experiencing belonging. Children belong to diverse families, neighbourhoods, local and global communities. Belonging acknowledges children’s interdependence with others and the basis of relationships in defining identities.
