About the centre

The Kirrip Community Centre provides essential services to the booming population in the city’s north.

It includes:

  • a modern 3‑room kindergarten
  • two fully-equipped maternal and child health consulting suites
  • a 200sqm community hall
  • meeting spaces for community groups
  • a landscaped outdoor area.

The Kirrip Kindergarten is part of the community centre. It has 3 large rooms and runs 3-year-old and 4-year old kindergarten programs.

Our curriculum reflects the National Quality Framework and Victoria Early Years Learning Frameworks. We like to engage with the children so they can have a voice in their education. They help set up the rooms to maximise their learning. We also encourage them to set up and pack away their own activities.

Creating different play and learning areas

Having so much space in this new facility helps us create different play and learning areas. Each room has a range of recycled, natural and other materials. Large windows provide plenty of natural light, creating a calm environment for children. We also have quiet places which allow children to reflect and have time to themselves.

Families provide snacks and lunches. However, cooking is an important part of our curriculum. Children can participate in making cakes to celebrate their peers’ birthdays. We also use vegetables grown in our garden in cooking with the children and celebrations with families and our community.

Bulding open dialogue

Our educators build open dialogue with parents and children. They arealways happy to check in with parents to discuss progress.

We primarily connect with parents via the Storypark platform. It is a great resource for everyone to track learning milestones.

We can’t wait to meet you and be part of your child’s early learning journey!

Kirrip Director Alicia

Alicia Adem

Centre Director

I’m Alicia, and I’ve been a part of Kirrip Kindergarten since it started in 2022. With seven years in early years education, I’ve learned how important these early years are. As the Kindergarten Director at Kirrip Kindergarten, where “kirrip” means friendship, I believe that strong bonds and a caring atmosphere really help children grow.

I follow Lev Vygotsky’s idea that learning through social interaction is key. Through friendships and playing together, we help children learn and understand their emotions. At Kirrip Kindergarten, I see every day how friendships help children learn and become kind individuals.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to Kirrip Kindergarten!
