Diggers Rest Early Learning Centre

Take a Tour

Our Centre

Diggers Rest Early Learning Centre is located in the heart of Digger’s Rest close to Diggers Rest Primary School and train station. Our centre offers 100 places for Long Day Care, including an integrated Kindergarten*.

Our curriculum is a play based program in accordance with the national approved Early Years Learning Framework and is underpinned by the Education and Care Services Regulations and National Quality Standards. Diggers Rest ELC is a welcoming, safe, stimulating environment for children where they can explore, make friends, help their peers and just be themselves.

Our educators encourage children to develop their social skills through play. Social skills are developed in a variety of ways including imaginative play, story times and participating in incursions, excursions and community events.

Each of our 6 rooms are set up so children can select from a large number of activities allowing them to choose how they learn and play. Educators are set up to challenge children and help them learn independence and develop their problem solving skills.

Our centre has a large outdoor space where children can run, climb and ride bikes as well as a grassed area for quieter activities. We also have a veggie garden where children can learn about science and sustainability! Moving from indoor play to outdoor play also allows the children to engage with peers and siblings from the other rooms.

Creating clear and open communication between educators, children and their family is paramount to supporting a child’s learning and development. There are a variety of ways that we communicate with parents; daily routines for the child are displayed in each room. We use the Story Park platform to document each child’s development. Parents are also welcome to talk to our educators about their child’s progress during drop offs and pickups, you can also subscribe to our newsletter to keep up to date with centre and community events.

Meals are included as part of our service which are prepared onsite by a qualified chef. Our nutritious menu is based on seasonal produce, house favourites include vegetable soup and casserole in winter and fresh salads in summer. Our menu caters for all children including allergies and cultural and religious beliefs.

*Children who attend the Integrated Kindergarten are required to attend a minimum of two days, to ensure each child receives the mandatory 15 hours of a Kindergarten program.

Diggers Rest Early Learning Centre uses the Kinder Tick because we’re an approved provider of a Victorian Government funded kindergarten program. That means our service delivers a play-based learning program, led by a qualified early childhood teacher.

Meet the Manager

Rebecca Carpanzano

Centre Director

My name is Rebecca I am the proud Director of Diggers Rest ELC.

I am an incredibly passionate and energetic leader of the team with over a decade of experience in the industry.

“I believe in treating each child as an individual and valuable member of our community. Forging positive relationships with both the child and their families, as well as within the local community, is something that I’m very proud our centre commits to. At Diggers Rest ELC we don’t view each family and team member as just another number, we take a personal approach.”

” I moved across from a health and wellness career to Early Childhood when I noticed a great need for earlier scaffolding in children’s learning journeys. I believe in order for children to learn effectively, they must have their basic needs met first, things such as a safe environment, feeling comfortable, having social ties, this hierarchy of needs all builds them up to be more receptive to learning.’’

Seeing the children laugh and have fun is exactly why I love my job. It brings me so much joy when I am able to provide an environment full of encouraging learning spaces as well as a safe and welcoming space for families to use as their chosen education and care provider.
