This kid-friendly footpath paint combines paint with chalk for an extra fun version. When you children paint the footpath chalk onto the driveway or footpath, it will dry into a pretty chalk creation later. Just like chalk, this outdoor chalk paint will vanish with water.
This simple footpath paint practically guarantees your kids will have hours of fun. You can easily make this recipe with ingredients you already have at home. Give this outdoor chalk paint a try and see what creative designs your children come up with.
You will need:
¾ – 1 Cup of water (¾ cup for thicker paint or 1 cup for runnier paint, great for squeezy bottles)
⅓ Cup cornflour
⅓ Cup bicarbonate soda
Bowl or measuring jug
Metal spoon or whisk
Messy-play clothes
Paint brushes or squeeze bottles
Concrete footpath or driveway
Your imagination
Instructions:
Step 1 ) Place your water into your bowl or measuring cup.
Use ¾ cup for thicker paint (perfect for paintbrushes).
Use 1 cup for thinner paint (perfect for squeezy bottles).
Step 2) Add ⅓ cup cornflour into the water.
Step 3) Stir it up with a spoon or whisk, breaking up any clumps.
Step 4) Next, add ⅓ cup bicarbonate soda.
Step 5) Stir it up, again breaking apart any clumps.
If you would like to make multiple colours, split your mixture now into different small bowls or squeeze bottles. If your container has a lid, you can keep any leftover chalk paint ready to use for next time!
Step 6) Add food colouring into the mixture. Gel food colouring is great for vivid colours – a few drops goes a long way!
Last Step!
Paint on your driveway! As the paint dries, the water evaporates, leaving only a chalk-like powder behind. It is then easily removed with water – you can wash it away, or wait for rain.
