Book Week
Throughout our Centre our children love books, reading and coming together to listen to stories being read. Book Week is an opportunity to celebrate our love for books and further celebrate early childhood literacy and learning. During book week our children had the opportunity to engage with a wide range of texts and make meaning of these texts. Many of the children dressed up and/or brought a book to share to celebrate book week.
What’s on the menu?
Vicki and Geny have re-vamped our menu – to add more seasonal meals and to use our very own, home grown produce from our veggie gardens.
Take a look at this wonderfully delicious beef and broccoli stir fry and the vegetarian option of tofu and broccoli stir-fry – fresh, fun and healthy just what our little friends need to grow big and strong.
Community engagement
On Friday the 2nd September, Mill Park Heights Child Care Centre and Kindergarten was privileged to have a visit from Local MP Lily D’Ambrosio who came to visit our 4 year old kinder children. Lily engaged with the children learning their interests and participating in experiences with them. This visit was to promote free kinder for 2023. We all enjoyed our visit and felt very special.
Children’s Voices:
What have you been learning in childcare?
Aiden from the Cosy Cocoon – 3 years old
“Learning weather.
Sun, light, water and seeds.
First put in the seeds. It grows really big.”
The Cosy Cocoon room children have been learning about the weather and seasons, focusing on Spring. The children have planted sun flower seeds and have also set up a garden/planting play space to further extend on their learning.
