We have been super busy at Diggers Rest Early Learning Centre, filling our days with lots of learning and fun activities!
Fun in the Sun
As our days get sunnier, we have been spending more and more time outside. It has been a blast working as a team to care for our yard and tend to our veggie patches. The children have also taken turns in raking the tanbark, giving them a sense of responsibility, achievement and belonging within our service.
Splashin’ around
We have also been enjoying ooey, gooey mud play. For those who haven’t been able to join us, you can try this at home! Not only is this messy mud play a lot of fun, but it also provides the children with the opportunity to explore, hypothesise and develop their scientific knowledge about liquid density.
To infinite and beyond!
The fun and learning opportunities we had in Space week, were out of this world!
Our week was filled with creative space themed play spaces, dress-ups, art and craft experiences as well as discussion and story times to extend our knowledge and interest in Space. Perhaps we have a future astronaut amongst us.
Grand Final Week
Everyone was a winner as we celebrated Grand final week. All the children and staff were invited to come to the centre dressed in their favourite footy colours from any code.
It was a great week, filled with laughter and cheers, music, ball games and a range of art experiences. Football week was a great way to increase the children’s belonging at the centre as we celebrate interests they may share with their families at home.
Other acknowledgements and celebrations over the last month included Talk like a pirate day, where everyone was encouraged to come dressed as a pirate and show us their best pirate faces and like the name suggests, talk like a pirate. We also had a mad hatters tea party. The room was decorated and the children came together to share delicious treats.
The staff acknowledged RU OK day with a morning tea and a reminder to check in on each other. During these times it is more important than ever to ensure that we are checking in on those close to us.
The month of celebrations have not only been a lot of fun and provided amazing learning opportunities it is also a reminder that no matter how challenging times can be, we need to take time out to have some fun and make each other smile.
We are missing our friends who can’t be with us at the moment and look forward to seeing you when you are able to return. Please remember to stay connected with us through Story Park and share your adventures at home with us.
Stay safe everyone.
