During Term 1, we have concentrated on working collaboratively with families to settle all the children into our care. Through the term, the children participated in many activities and acknowledged cultural celebrations such as Lunar New Year Celebrations, Shrove Tuesday, Harmony Day, Holi Festival of Colours and Easter. All those activities provided the children with the opportunity to gain more knowledge about the world around them. We talked about respect, empathy, and celebrated differences as well as similarities.
As part of our culture week, the staff shared their traditional food, and we had a special visitor Easter Bunny! The Easter Bunny visited all the three- and four-year-old kinder groups and presented the children with a yummy treat a Hot Cross Buns!
This term, we had an incursion from the Water Watch Program called “Critters in the Creek”. The children learnt about all the wonderful animals that live in our community and in Merri Creek. We learned about different amphibians, birds, fish and other animals that we might be able to spot on the way with our families. We also got to meet a Spotted March Frog. The children were delighted to see it , and it bought about some very interesting conversations and questions amongst the children.
