Official Yard Launch!
On Tuesday May 18th, we held the official launch of our renovated yard. The yard upgrade project was funded by the Victorian State Government and The Y Whittlesea.
The launch was attended by a number of representatives from both The Y and council, with the Honourable Minister Lily D’Ambrosio joining the children for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
The children played an important role in the launch. The children from the Cosy Cocoon, Busy Butterfly and Kinder rooms participated in the Acknowledgement to Country at the beginning of the ceremony.
Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea
It was lovely to have so many mother’s and special people join us for our Mother’s Day afternoon tea on Friday May 7th. The children enjoyed cooking and making delicious treats to share with their loved ones and it was so nice for families to once again, be able to participate in the program with the children.
Bush Kinder
Bush Kinder is another important way we teach children about the community. Through this program the children are able to make a connection between themselves, the centre and the wider community. It provides the children with the opportunity to learn more about the world around them, consolidate familiar knowledge and share their thoughts and ideas with their peers.
Bush kinder also provides the children with the opportunity to extend on what they have learnt inside the classroom about sustainability and nature.
While Bush Kinder is a program designed specifically for our four year old kinder group, the younger children participate in regular community walks which provide them with the same learning opportunities.
Currently
Over the last few months our programs have had a strong emphasis on educating the children about sustainability and caring for the world around us. We celebrated World Ocean day, World Otter day and World Environment day with a range of exciting and educational experiences.
The children have also been learning to care for our new gardens and all about recycling and repurposing.
The Busy Butterfly room have been learning about composting and even made their own makeshift compost bin.
